PRANA; the sanskrit word for "life force or "vital principle" is all cosmic energy, permeating the Universe on all levels. Designed with four "Auspicious Knots", this symbol is one of the eight traditional symbols of Buddhism. Also called Shrivatsa, or the endless knot. It represents the Buddha's heart, the essence of which is bodhicitta, ("awakened mind" or, universal compassion).
